FAQ's

What? Shrewsbury Youth Lacrosse (SYL) is a boys town lacrosse program that is part of Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacross League (MBYLL).  We are a boys lacrosse league, teaching teamwork, effort, and fun.

Who?  Shrewsbury Boys in grades 1-8 

Where? We practice and play our games at Lake Street Park in Shrewsbury [behind SAC (Scandinavian Athletic Club)]

When?  Indoor practices begin in late February after school vacation.  We move outside once the town opens the grass fields for play. We play games, on Sundays in April and May and end our season with a jamboree at Ft Devens, in June.  It's the largest lacrosse jamboree in the USA!  

  • Games are 48 minutes long
  • We play area towns from Sturbridge to Metro west
  • Usually about 4 home games and 4 away games
  • Practice 1-2 evenings/week at Lake Street Park, or another town field

SELECT level of play.  We conduct tryouts in the spring for our SELECT teams for U13 and U15 divisions.  Select lacrosse is a higher level of competition, playing  against other towns Select teams.  We keep score and have a playoff and championship.  Select players MUST play on their Town team.
